Business Call to Action

Business Call to Action

Launched at the United Nations in 2008, the Business Call to Action (BCtA) is a unique multilateral alliance that challenges companies to advance core business activities that are inclusive of poor populations and contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Worldwide, more than 155 companies have responded to BCtA by making commitments to improve the lives and livelihoods of millions through commercially-viable business ventures that engage low-income people as consumers, producers, suppliers, and distributors of goods and services. BCtA member initiatives include pledges to promote improved health outcomes for 113 million people, create 6.3 million full time jobs, and enhance access to energy for 67 million people.

BCtA members are market leaders and innovators who recognize that inclusive business

  • drives innovation
  • builds markets
  • strengthens supply chains
  • enhances competitiveness
  • uncovers new sources of profitability

while improving productivity, sustainable earnings and empowerment among the poor.
